Zorina Kroop a business owner from Studio City, became the 6th MEGA Millions winner from California when she won a $60 million jackpot on September 21, 2007. Kroop credits her luck to positive thinking among other things, ”I have a little blue dot I bought out of the National Enquirer and it brings me good luck, and I read ‘The Secret’ and that’s how I live my life.”
Kroop will receive the money in a lump sum of more than $30 million after taxes. She plans to travel to meet the 844 cousins she recently found after running a search on the Internet. She will also hire a skilled nurse for her elderly mother and plans to buy a condo for her aunt and uncle as well as helping her son pay off his home. Kroop wants to donate some of her prize to pediatric AIDS and to research on pancreatic cancer, a disease that took the life of her husband.
Kroop purchased the winning MEGA Millions ticket at 7-Eleven in Studio City. Shoukat Ali, the franchise owner of the 7-Eleven, who received a $300,000 check for selling the winning ticket.
