How To Play

Daily 4 is easy to play and winning is fun!

Pick up a Daily 4 playslip. Select a set of four (4) numbers from a field of 0 to 9 (example: 1-3-5-7, 9-3-9-3, etc.) Mark one number per row on your playslip.

Then select your playstyle:

Straight, Box, or Straight/Box. (More explanation on playstyles is available below.)

For example: To play 1-3-5-7 "straight", mark your playslip and your selected numbers will be played as 1-3-5-7 in that order. To win at Daily 4, ALL of your numbers must match ALL of the winning numbers

If you make a mistake, mark the void box. Do not erase.

Mark how many consecutive draws you want to play. (You can play the same numbers and playstyle for 1-7 or 14 consecutive draws by marking Advance Play®.) Pay $1.00 for each play per draw. The ticket will show your selected numbers, playstyle and draw(s).

Here's what a Daily 4 ticket looks like:

Remember to win at Daily 4, ALL of your numbers must match ALL of the winning numbers.

It is important to remember in this game that each of the 4 numbers is independent of the other three numbers. This means that if the winning numbers are 3-3-1-2, you must have a three another three a one and a two in your chosen numbers to win.

Playstyle Explanation

There are three playstyles available to you in Daily 4. Remember, in all of the playstyles described below, ALL of your numbers must match ALL of the winning numbers.

  • Straight - Your numbers must match the winning numbers in exactly the same order.
  • Box - Your numbers must match the winning numbers in ANY order.
  • Straight/Box - This playstyle is a combination of the Straight and Box playstyles. This means that your $1 play is split between both playstyles - 50 cents to Straight and 50 cents to Box. Your method of winning is either matching all four winning numbers in exact order OR all four winning numbers in ANY order.

Since $1 is split between the two playstyles, the potential payouts are approximately half the prize amounts.

By matching the winning numbers in the exact order, you win approximately half the Straight prize plus approximately half the Box prize. If you match the winning numbers in any other order, you win approximately half the Box prize only.

Common Questions about winning Daily 4.
Q. I think I won, I played Box, my numbers were 1-1-2-4 and the winning numbers were 1-2-4-4, why didn't I win?
A. Remember to win Daily 4, ALL of your numbers must match ALL of the winning numbers. In this case, while you do have three of the four winning numbers, you do not win because the numbers you selected include two 1s but there is only one 1 in the winning numbers. The only combinations that would have been winning numbers for the numbers you chose are: 1-1-2-4, 1-2-1-4, 2-1-1-4, 4-1-1-2, 4-1-2-1, 4-2-1-1, 2-1-4-1 or 2-4-1-1.

Q. I played Straight/Box, I don't understand how prize value is calculated.
A. Remember when you make a Straight/Box wager, your $1 wager is divided equally between the Straight and the Box playstyles. This means you can win either by matching your four numbers in exact order (the Straight wager) or by matching all four winning numbers in any order (the Box wager). For example if you play Straight/Box and the numbers you choose are 1-2-3-4. If the winning numbers are 1-2-3-4, you would win both the Straight AND the Box wagers. (Remember to win Box you match the winning numbers in any order, including the exact order.) In this case, if the Straight prize for that drawing was $1,500, and if the Box prize for that drawing was $600, you would win half the Straight prize, or $750, PLUS half the Box prize, or $300, for a total of $1,050. (Remember that your original wager amount is divided 50/50 between Straight and Box.) You will see this prize value listed on the Winning Numbers page as "Straight & Box".

*Pari-mutuel prize amounts will vary depending upon sales levels and number of winners.

You can select your own numbers or Play Quick Pick® for $1.00 per play per draw. When you select Quick Pick®, the Lottery terminal will randomly select your four Daily 4 numbers for you.

If you don't ask for a specific playstyle you will automatically receive Straight Daily 4 play. You can also play your number combinations for up to 14 consecutive draws with the Advance Play feature.

How To Get The Most From The Least-Played Numbers
A pari-mutuel prize structure means players' winnings can be determined by what numbers they play. For example: Most players frequently play the same popular numbers such as 7777. If 7777 were to be drawn the prize for that draw would be divided between all of the players who played 7777. On the other hand if a player were to play less popular numbers and those numbers were drawn, he or she would share the prize amount with fewer winners. With this in mind, you might want to try playing less popular numbers as they just might be your ticket to bigger prizes.
